This is another article left over from an unpublished magazine. And now I will post them on blogs regularly. And there’s not a lot of material on “The Crew” on the site.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Don’t judge strictly, this is my first preview.
More and more games are moving online. And we’re not just talking about multiplayer, developers (or publishers) try to cram tables with records, achievements and other little things into any game. But only a few companies decided to bring the entire game online. The first and most successful attempt was Test Drive: Unlimited. Despite some shortcomings, the concept proposed by Eden Games, if not a revolution, at least moved the racing genre forward. After all, players were allowed to do whatever they wanted on the Hawaiian island of Ohau. And not in the company of bots, but hundreds and thousands of real players. Which for 2007 was very. And in 2011, Eden Games decided to repeat the success, and it almost worked. But the unclear physics of cars and the amount of clothes and other jewelry exceeding the number of cars prevented this from happening.
Nextgen is coming and fully multiplayer projects have become commonplace. This means that games like The Crew have the best place on the market.
O brave new world
"The Crew" is positioned https://cashcabincasino.co.uk/withdrawal/ as the largest auto race in history. “Ivory tower” together with “Reflection” recreated the entire United States of America. The map, of course, is not 1:1. Traveling from coast to coast, on the road and in a cool car, will take about an hour and a half, and two off-road. For comparison, a real trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas will take 4-5 hours. But it will be impossible to hit pedestrians on the way. To help you get comfortable in the world, the developers have added a single player campaign, which will take about 30 hours to complete. Tasks can be completed alone or together with friends. For greater convenience, you can connect to any player (with his consent, of course) and test your horsepower and driving skills, or join the company in passing, now conditionally, a single-player mode. Some may be upset that cars cannot be blown up or crushed like in Burnout paradise. Although the damage system will be present, even if the car is fairly dented, this will not affect its characteristics. Here you can draw a parallel with any of NfS. Judging by the trailers, the missions will be in the best traditions of the Farsage series. Of course, there will be police, for whom… they won’t let you play.
This US version contains about 10.000 kilometers of roads, 15 largest cities in America – 6 of which are comparable to Liberty City from GTAIV. Of course, the cities will be recognizable; each has its own unique architecture, as well as a set of attractions. But like everything else, they will be scaled down. In addition to big cities, you will also be able to visit small towns with their endless fields and farms. The developers promise 11 different ecosystems. For players, this means that the environment, weather, landscape will change every 10-15 minutes, and you won’t be bored, at least for those who like to contemplate and enjoy the beautiful. The huge world was created for a reason, there will be an hour and a half race across the country. All this grace is complemented by the ability to instantly move across the entire map in a couple of seconds (the developers assure that it will take a couple of seconds, no more), and join a friend or any other player.
When developers talk about the biggest race, they are not lying. There will be hundreds, if not thousands of players on the map at the same time. And, as noted above, you can race with everyone, or interact in any other available way.
No more than 8 people can participate in the race. And the next 8 players will be marked by the game automatically.
Pimp your car
The most important thing in the game (after the open world, of course) is leveling up. The developers are especially proud of it, and for good reason. Cars can be practically created from scratch, and any Nissan Skyline can be turned into an SUV. There will be six classes of cars in total.
1: Factory (well, everything is obvious here, an ordinary car from the pipeline, suitable only for training and sightseeing).
2: Street class is a slightly improved Zovodsk class.
3: Off-road, well, no comments here.
4: The rally class is slightly superior in cross-country ability to the off-road class, and its speed is higher
5: High performance class, well these are the typical racing class for highways and other roads.
6: And the last class is track. It is quite obvious what it is intended for and in what conditions it is used, I will only say that this is the very top level of pumping, unless of course you prefer to knead the dirt in Colorado.
Of course, there will be the possibility of cosmetic tuning, and hundreds of decals and paint combinations. Each car has 19 elements that can be improved.
In addition to the standard improvement of your horses, special “perks” will be available. Some of them will make it easier to escape from the police, with others it will be easier to brake and generally drive the car, and others will give a double increase in experience points, and much more.
There will be car dealerships and auto tuners where all this stuff can be bought for “Crew credits”.
Second screen
The Crew did not escape this fate. This is the trend now.
Using a tablet, you can sit in the subway, select the region of the United States in which you want to ride, gather friends for the race, set up the upcoming race, and when you come home, sit in front of the TV/monitor and immediately start the race. Also, the mobile application will allow you to customize and configure your car, but in less detail than on PC or consoles. Alas, performance does not allow. But the tablet will not have any key functions.
